Strategy

Due to the fact that the ranged attacks on these Pugils knock the player back a couple of feet, it is best to go in with a Smn.  The Avatar can take all the hits and still hit back.

I’ve used 2 strategies on this fight.  One is to either go in Solo (Smn).  The other is to Duo (Smn).

Solo Strategy

Same as Level 20 Avatar Battles.  Bring in 2 ethers (or Hi-ethers) a Yagudo Drink and a Hi-Potion (just in case).  It’s best to go in on Lightningsday and definitely not on Watersday.  Once you’re in, run up to the ramp.  When halfway up the ramp, summon Ramuh.  Drink the Yag drink and then run just to the circle (you’ll see the three fishes staring at you at this point – don’t run too far or you’ll get attacked).  When just outside the circle, Assault the middle fish (Sniper Pugil) with Ramuh.  As soon as he engages, use Astral Flow and then Judgment Bolt (do not worry about Ramuh getting hit back, the bolt will still go off).  This will hit all three Pugs.

Use your hi-ether and wait for BP timer to hit 0.  Hit your Judgment Bolt on the Sniper again.  This should kill the two archers and knock the Sniper down to 10 percent.  At this point, Ramuh will probably almost be dead.  If this is the case, Run back down the ramp and round the corner.  Use your hi-ehter at this point (if you think you can safely use your ether before running, do it then).  Wait for Ramuh to die and then resummon.  He will automatically go after the Sniper.

If you can get another Judgment Bolt off, then do so…if not, use Thunder II or Thunderspark.  This will kill the Sniper.

Duo Strategy

Best if both Summoners get an orb (this way you can do it twice and both can get a head to sell).  Same strategy as above, only the second Summoner does not 2 hour.  Just stand next to the First Summoner and use Ramuh to Tunderspark the Sniper.  Thunderspark will not hit the two Archers.  But there should be enough time for the First Summoner to get off two Judgment Bolts, killing all three (because the Thunderspark should have knocked the Sniper down enough).
